Medical helicopter dispatched Sunday afternoon

A man injured Sunday afternoon on Mount Eolus was rescued and flown to San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington.

The exact nature of his injuries was not available, but according to early reports he fell 10 feet to 12 feet and injured his head, spine and shoulder, said Butch Knowlton, La Plata County’s director of emergency management.

The man’s companions and other people in Chicago Basin helped him reach a place where the Tristate CareFlight helicopter could land and take him to the hospital, he said.
