Wow! It is amazing how Deb Morton, Pagosa Springs High School media specialist (Facebook), became an expert on sheep degradation of the Weminuche Wilderness in three days (“Sheep grazing is hurting Weminuche,” Sept. 18)).
This is our 48th summer on our allotments in the San Juan Mountains and I am proud of the fact that the water, sub-alpine and alpine environment, and aesthetic aspects of the wilderness have never been more pristine. Plus, I am proud that we are a member of the American agriculture community that helps to feed this country, much of the world, and even Ms. Morton.
As for High Country News, consider the source, a biased and radical environmental rag that attacked me, agriculture as a whole, and Colorado Parks and Wildlife. I will be sending a letter to set the record straight, but I doubt that they will print it.
