Information remains scarce surrounding a shooting that occurred this week at KP Pawn and Sales.

The shooting, which occurred around 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at 495 E. College Drive, left one person critically injured.

The investigation remains ongoing as of Thursday, and there is no threat to the public, according to Durango Police Department Public Information Officer McKenzie Perdue.

As of Thursday afternoon, those involved in the incident had not been identified, and the status of the critically injured person, who was transported to the hospital from the scene, had not yet been released.

KP Pawn and Sales reopened Wednesday following a brief closure from the incident.

“They’re moving through the process as they would any open investigation,” Perdue said Thursday.

“I seen all the cops flying by, and the ambulance,” said Joe Esquibel, a longtime Fifth Avenue resident who was at his home down the street from KP Pawn and Sales at the time of the shooting. “This wasn’t Durango 60 years ago.”
