Iron Horse Bicycle Classic donates event barricades to Silverton community

Thank you to Iron Horse Bicycle Classic for buying the Silverton community event barricades and helping us grow our event infrastructure. This is much needed for event organizers.

The Iron Horse Bicycle Classic wanted to expand on their annual donation to the Silverton community after the 416 Fire. They were looking for a specific project to donate to that was a good fit for both the town and the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic. “The lack of event infrastructure for the Town of Silverton to utilize themselves or rent out to other special events was sorely lacking,” said Melanie Russek, IHBC assistant director and recovery coordinator for San Juan Development Association.

Helping to build a cache of event infrastructure was something the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic thought was a good fit. This year, they purchased barricades to be used for fencing, and hope to be able to repeat these efforts over the next several years. It will help make the town more event-friendly, as there will be in town materials for event organizers to utilize, rather than having to bring in from out of town at considerable expense.
