Magazine contest seeks nominations
Here’s another one of those “best of” contests that Durango officials should jump at.
True Western Magazine is inviting towns to participate in its 10th annual Top 10 True Western Towns contest.
Deadline for nominations is Aug. 1.
The winners will be featured in the magazine’s February 2015 issue.
Nominations should share the town’s ongoing projects and projects completed this year that contribute to preserving Old West heritage, defined as 1803 to 1920.
The magazine’s span of interest dates from the Louisiana Purchase to the Mexican Revolution. But among other areas of interest are European settlement, the era of exploration and pre-Columbian history of Native Americans.
