It’s here: Election Day!

A day ahead of Election Day, Ashli Stuckman, deputy chief with the La Plata County clerk and recorder, empties a full ballot drop box early Monday. A steady stream of voters have been bringing their ballots to the drop-off.

It’s here: Election Day, and the final day you can get your general election ballot turned in.

All mail ballots must be received by 7 p.m. – and it’s too late to mail them back.

But there are several options in La Plata County, where ballots can be deposited until 7 p.m. in secure boxes at:

La Plata County Clerk & Recorder’s Office, 98 Everett St., Durango.Bayfield Town Hall, 1199 Bayfield Parkway, Bayfield.La Plata County Administration Building, 1101 East Second Ave., Durango.Farmers Fresh Market, 535 Goddard Ave., Ignacio.Voter registration is open through Election Day, and you can still vote if not registered.

Voter Service and Polling Centers at the clerk’s office, in Bayfield and at the fairgrounds will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m..

The public also is invited to stop by for an Election Night Open House sponsored by The Durango Herald and The League of Women Voters of La Plata County. The event is from 7 to 11 p.m. at The Durango Herald office, 1275 Main Ave. Participants can watch results on several big-screen televisions.
