A temporary pile of furniture and brush, not garbage, could be a selling point, an example of how Durango cares about helping its citizens improve their neighborhood. It is good for business too, as when a sink, carpeting, plumbing, etc., is discarded, most likely replacements will be purchased.
In the long run, front yards look tidier, sidewalks are not overgrown with prickly bushes, backyards are not as cluttered and people feel better living in a neater environment. What an opportunity!
I appreciate the hard work done by all involved in accomplishing this annual feat. Kudos!
Unfortunately for me, I live a matter of feet past the line and can not participate in this useful example of community spirit.
I will have to rent a truck, drive to the dump and hope the demarcation line will someday move just a little bit farther my way.
