It’s time to ‘Heal the Divide’

I am writing in support of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s campaign for the presidency of the United States. I am 68 years old, and have never volunteered to support any other presidential candidate before now. That is how important I believe this election is, and how important it is to elect the right person for the job. Let us not forget that this is what we are doing – voting for the best person to serve the people of our country; not which one is a Democrat or Republican, Black or white, male or female – nor which candidate someone else tells you to vote for.

With over 50% of voters now registered as independent or unaffiliated, there is a clear message being sent to our politicians, and that is that we are not so easily bought and sold by political affiliation; that we choose to base our vote on which candidate represents our values and that can carry this country into a better future for generations to come. A candidate who cares about the issues that every American today faces – the economy, our environment, our safety and security, and our civil liberties.

In his farewell address to our newly formed nation, George Washington warned the people not to form political parties, as it would divide our nation. Has there ever been a period in time in our country where Americans are more divided than they are today? It’s time to “Heal the Divide,” as RFK Jr. puts it.
