Jenn Jenkins puts community first

As an educator, I believe in leading by example. Connection and kindness matter. We are fortunate to live in a small town where we see people we know at the grocery store, friends at the park or previous students home for the summer. Imagine jeopardizing those values of connection and kindness in our small community by playing into partisan politics during our local elections. We can do better.

Jenn Jenkins has my vote to represent District 3 on the LPEA Board of Directors because she understands the fragility of smaller communities, sees the strength of rural areas, and recognizes the imbalance that occurs when we focus on our differences instead of our shared values and goals.

Jenn has been my neighbor since 2018. In this time, I’ve watched her travel around the country to work with rural decision-makers as they navigate their own energy diversification. Our country is changing; change is hard. Jenn devotes her career to empowering rural communities to make their own decisions before big extractive companies come to town and tell them what they need.

While this job is tough, Jenn succeeds in this space because she believes in helping areas like Durango thrive. I believe in Jenn. She has the experience, but she also has the heart.
