The 6th Judicial District Nominating Commission has nominated two candidates for a San Juan County court judgeship created by the retirement of Lyndon K. Skinner, effective July 1.
Nominees Anthony D. Edwards and Melodee A. Horton, both of Silverton, were selected in a meeting Monday in Durango.
The position rates at 20 percent of the pay and workload of a full-time county judge, he said, but it often translates to two or three times the recompensed workload.
Under the Colorado Constitution, the governor has 15 days from May 6 to appoint one of the nominees as county court judge for San Juan County.
