There is much evidence to show that white middle-class people, who come from stable families are given much lighter sentences for a particular crime than the sentences given poor people of color, who come from unstable or abusive families.
I think that Judge Anne Katherine Woods is being unfairly criticized for attempting to remove this form of bigotry from her sentencing decisions.
She has my vote.
