Junior Livestock Auction nets nearly $25,000 for champion animals

The La Plata County Fair wrapped up over the weekend. Among the highlights each year is Saturday night’s Junior Livestock Auction. Here are the results for champion animals:

Grand Beef Champion: Keanna Smith’s 1,265-pound cattle sold at $7.75 a pound

Reserve Beef Champion: Natalie Wright’s 1,323-pound cattle sold at $4.75 a pound

Grand Swine Champion: Taylor Jenkins’s 264 pound sold at $9/lb.

Reserve Swine Champion: Colton Zellitti’s 259 pound sold at $9.50/lb.

Grand Sheep Champion: Brock Fassett’s 131-pound sheep sold at $12.50/lb.

Reserve Sheep Champion: Kyree Johnson’s 153-pound sheep sold at $10/lb.

Grand Goat Champion: Carter Nieman’s 74-pound goat sold at $6.75/lb.

Reserve Goat Champion: Hadyn Nieman’s 59-pound goat sold at $6.50/lb.
