Air Academy simply had too much firepower.
Durango High School lost to the Kadets 69-47 on Friday at Valor Christian High School in Denver in the second round of the CHSAA Class 4A Boys Basketball State Championships.
The fifth-seeded Kadets scored 24 points in the second quarter to take a 41-21 halftime lead.
No. 4 DHS (15-7), which received a first-round bye in the playoffs, trailed 55-26 heading into the fourth quarter.
The Demons couldn’t crack double-digit scoring in the third or fourth quarters as Air Academy (19-6) piled up 29 points after halftime.
Air Academy will play regional top seed and host Valor Christian, which beat Ponderosa, in the round of 16.
