Kayaking on the icy Animas River

Nate Foster, 14, and coach, Marci Cary, of the Durango Whitewater Club break ice Friday on the Animas River north of 32nd Street to practice a slalom short course. Nate is the son of Peter and Nancy Foster. The National Weather Service forecasts mostly sunny skies with a high of 35 on Saturday. Sunday will bring sunny skies and a high of 37.
