Keep information accurate and balanced

I am happy to hear that the Herald will start to give equal space for both major parties in the letters to the editor. I was a subscriber for over 15 years. I am often amazed at how biased the Herald appears to be in both editorials and in letters chosen for publications.

It is vital that our community get information about candidates that is accurate and balanced. In a recent story about candidate for U.S. Senate, Darryl Glenn, the Herald did not even speak to the local or state GOP committees but quoted the Democratic committee member. How is that fair reporting?

I support Glenn and have contributed to his campaign. He is a veteran and his views reflect more of what the people of Colorado want and need than that of the Washington-based GOP.

Sen. Michael Bennet has not impressed me with his voting record or his support for the Western Slope. So I am ready for a big change. I now read the Herald via the website so I can keep up with friends and local events.

Editor’s note: The Herald does not promise “to give equal space for both major parties.” The promise is, as always, to treat all letters fairly. Whether that means more letters from Democrats, Republicans or others depends on who chooses to write.
