Southwest Colorado has never been the easiest place to live, and I can’t say it’s getting easier. Last thing we need is to let some oil company colonize our energy co-op, which is why I'm supporting John Witchel and Joe Lewandowski for the LPEA Board.
The fact that we know how to look after one another has long been a point of pride and it’s what’s kept me here my whole life. We may not be the fanciest place in the world, but we know what matters and community is a huge part of it.
I've known John Witchel for over a decade. He’s been a community builder since he landed and helped local entrepreneurs raise millions in funding, creating real jobs and opportunity in a place that can be hard to do. He can see what makes our community great and understands keeping it that way ain't free. We've all got to keep working at it.
Not only do the candidates running against John and Joe lack experience, they also seem curiously aligned with Tri-State – a borderline insolvent company asking for a $2.5 billion federal bailout. That just does not seem in the spirit of what our local co-op is about. We need to keep running our own plays here, not propping up bankrupt corporations.
John and Joe understand this place. They want to keep us independent, and keep the focus right here on our corner of Colorado. Let's protect what matters to us. Vote for John Witchel and Joe Lewandowski on April 21.
