I would like to thank all the people and the businesses that signed and helped circulate the petition concerning the county clerk's office in Bayfield.
Bayfield Mayor Matt Salka and Town Manager Chris LaMay stood behind the people of the area, and we should all be grateful for their support.
Bayfield, Ignacio, Vallecito, Arboles and county residents wanted their voices heard. More than 1,600 signatures were collected and turned in to the La Plata County Commissioners. The Bayfield clerk's office is still open five days a week until the end of December; beginning in January, they will be open on Thursdays ONLY.
One day is better than none! Please patronize the Bayfield office to keep it open and maybe expanding again in the future.
