Key to bear story: ‘Camping illegally’

“Bear killed after man bitten” read one of the headlines in the online edition (Herald, June 1.) Was the remainder of the headline omitted “while camping illegally”? Our irritation with our transient community continues to grow, and this is an example of why.

Bears are a beautiful part of our community and to have one killed because someone chose to camp in an illegal area (I’m assuming with food or trash very nearby because we all know bears just don’t attack humans for no reason) is one of the most upsetting things I’ve read about in our local news.

Did the individuals who were camping illegally receive citations? Just curious.
