Kiwanis Club of Durango recently revived a long tradition of honoring local citizens for their service to the community by awarding the Hidden Hero Award to Liane Jollon for her service to the community.

Jollon is the executive director of San Juan Basin Public Health Department. She and her staff have spent the last year and a half managing the community and regional response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Under her leadership, public health orders have minimized local infection rates, effectively coordinated regional response to the pandemic and facilitated vaccination responses in the region. The consequence has been a reduction in infections and improved public health.

Kiwanis Club of Durango meets weekly at noon Thursdays on Zoom and plans to return to in-person meetings soon.
