What looked like a state semifinal win for the Bayfield Wolverines through the middle of the fourth quarter got turned upside down.
Bayfield was ahead 13-0 at the end of the third quarter on the strength of two long passes from Josh Westbrook to Brian Mashak. The La Junta Tigers scored two quick touchdowns at the end of the fourth, then threw a two-point conversion to finish 14-13
Bayfield had a 9-3 season, including two shutouts of its 2A state opponents in playoffs.
La Junta will now host Kent Denver next Saturday for the 2A state title.
