Rodney Carriker lifts a Dutch oven lid to check his sourdough rolls Saturday at the annual chuckwagon cook-off hosted by the La Plata-Archuleta Cattlemen. Carriker and his wife and their crew won the award for most authentic wagon and took second for best overall food at the cook-off.

Best meat: first place, Poverty Flats; second, Montoya Cattle Company; third, Canyon Trails Ranch.
Best beans: first place, Montoya Cattle; second, Mountain Trails Ranch; third, Poverty Flats.
Best potatoes: first place, Mountain Trails; second, Canyon Trails; third, Durango Cowboy Church.
Best bread: first place, Montoya Cattle; second, Mountain Trails; third, Canyon Trails.
Best dessert: First place, Poverty Flats; second, Durango Cowboy Church; third, Canyon Trails.
The belt buckle awarded for best overall food went to the Montoya Cattle Company. Second place in overall food was awarded to Canyon Trails, while Poverty Flats took third.
