La Plata Conservation District awards scholarships

La Plata Conservation District recently awarded scholarships to two local students, David “Martin” Cuntz Jr. and Aleksander Hurworth.

Both students received $1,000 scholarships for the pursuit of an agricultural or natural resource-related degree.

Hurworth is a graduate of Durango High School and is currently attending the University of Arizona. He plans to apply his engineering skills to environmental restoration by designing equipment that is fuel efficient, durable, cost effective and automated.
