The La Plata County Board of County Commissioners is seeking applicants to serve on the Southwestern Water Conservation District.
The purpose of the SWCD is to protect, conserve, use and develop the water resources of the southwestern basin for the welfare of the district, and to safeguard for Colorado all waters of the basin to which the state is entitled. Included in the SWCD are nine counties: La Plata, Archuleta, Dolores, Montezuma, San Juan, San Miguel and parts of Hinsdale, Mineral, and Montrose.
The board of county commissioners is required to appoint one member to a three-year term. Applicants must be a resident of La Plata County for at least two years before date of appointment and must have paid taxes on real estate in La Plata County in the year preceding date of appointment.
