FEMA has awarded $26,986 and $83,403 for the American Rescue Plan Act to the La Plata County jurisdiction to supplement existing emergency food and shelter programs within this jurisdiction.
Under the grant terms, local agencies chosen to receive funds must: 1) be private voluntary nonprofits with a voluntary board or units of government; 2) have an accounting system; 3) practice nondiscrimination; and 4) have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and or shelter programs.
Qualified agencies are urged to apply.

The local Emergency Food and Shelter board will convene to review applications and allocate this funding at 1 p.m. Nov. 7 through Zoom meeting. All participating applicants must be represented at this meeting to receive funding.
