The La Plata County Complete Count Committee is working to assist the U.S. Census Bureau with the 2020 Census.
The committee’s goal is to help the census count all residents in La Plata County once at their correct residence. The census is used to distribute over $13.1 billion in federal funds in Colorado and is used to determine how many seats each state has in the House of Representatives and in drawing federal and state legislative districts.
Completing the Census 2020 survey is important, easy and secure. Information is protected and used only for the purpose of getting an accurate population count.
Census data will be collected from March through August. Households will receive a postcard in the mail with instructions for completing the census online, by phone, on paper or with a local census employee. Census surveys will be printed in 13 languages, and language guides will be available in 59 languages.
