The U.S. Department of Agriculture recently announced that it has designated La Plata, Montezuma and Dolores counties as primary natural disaster areas because of losses and damages caused by a recent drought.
Eligible farm operators in the three counties can apply within the next eight months for Farm Service Agency emergency loans to help cover part of actual losses that result from drought. The FSA will consider each loan application according to its own merits and take into account the extent of losses, security available and repayment ability.
