La Plata County Road 524, which connects county roads 521 and 523 southeast of Bayfield, is closed indefinitely due to a failing culvert, according to a county news release.

The closure is expected to remain in place through at least the end of February while the Road and Bridge Department replaces the culvert once materials arrive.

Non-local traffic will be detoured to Buck Highway (County Road 521), County Road 522 and County Road 523 during the closure.
