La Plata Open Space Conservancy to host local agriculture talk

La Plata Open Space Conservancy will host a virtual discussion about the state of local agriculture and the impact of coronavirus on producers at 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, via

Jerry Zink with Sunnyside Meats and Elicia Whittlesey with the Old Fort at Hesperus will share how their enterprises have adapted to coronavirus and what they expect the “new normal” to look like for small producers.

There will be opportunity for participants to ask questions.

The event is free and open to all, but guests are encouraged to support the local food economy by purchasing a meal from a local establishment now through Wednesday, June 17. Guests who submit a photo of their receipt to info@lposc.org will be entered into a drawing to win a prize package. Participants may also enter the drawing by making a donation in any amount to the conservancy.
