La Plata Open Space Conservancy to host second discussion in local agriculture series

La Plata Open Space Conservancy will host a discussion about the state of local agriculture and the impact of the coronavirus on producers at 6 p.m. Tuesday on the lawn at the James Ranch Grill.

Representatives of two major players in Southwest Colorado agriculture, James Ranch and Adobe House Farms, will share how they have adapted their enterprises to changes caused by the pandemic, and what they expect the “new normal” to look like for local agriculture. They will also provide history and background about James Ranch and its diverse operations. A Q&A session will follow.

The event is free and open to all, but in order to comply with regulations and ensure participants’ safety, RSVPs and face coverings are required and attendance will be capped at 25.
