Gwen Lachelt has more than 30 years of experience in raising money from, and being accountable to, thousands of donors and board members of nonprofit organizations that she both started and managed.
Keeping many people happy in a national, million-dollar organization is more difficult than running a small local business with just one or two owners. Lachelt did so successfully.
She has followed the same thoroughness here in La Plata County – she is accountable to more than 50,000 residents, whether voting to hold a private company accountable for unusually high road impacts, as in the case of King Coal Mine, or voting to continue minimal funding for the public service agencies that care for so many of our fellow residents.
She works in smart, cost-effective ways to stretch a county budget thinned by declining revenues – a change brought on by the national glut of oil and gas.
We need her long-term vision and reasoned decision-making.
Please re-elect Gwen Lachelt for La Plata County commissioner.
