Lachelt earned the respect of community

In the early 1990s, oil and gas drilling was exploding across La Plata County with new wells popping up everywhere. I was part of a citizens group trying desperately to mitigate the effects on property owners. I remember attending meetings where the industry had their cadres of expense account attorneys, and thinking how very fortunate us regular folks were to have people like Gwen Lachelt and Travis Stills willing to fight for us.

To suggest, as Peg Aldridge has (Herald, May 7), that Lachelt is a money-grabbing profiteer is insulting and is blatantly false. What are you accusing her of, and what are your sources?

Given your supposed indignation over corrupt political behavior, perhaps you should direct your wild-eyed rhetoric a little farther up the food chain.
