Lack of Fiesta Rodeo coverage a shame

For everyone that didn’t know, there was a rodeo in town this last weekend. Would have never known it if I wasn’t there to witness it.

Sure wish the Herald would have covered it like any other sport around here (Iron Horse, etc.) with results and pictures.

Let me fill you in for those who didn’t attend: There were queens crowned, kids riding sheep, four-year-old and older girls’ barrel racing, guys riding bulls, horses, girls and guys roping and champions crowned.

Also barbecue, hot dogs, cotton candy, lemonade and places to shop.

It’s sad how our western heritage is becoming less and less in this community. This is how we raised our kids and our kids are raising theirs. Keep the rodeo history alive in a town that is not like it used to be. Maybe next year.

In the meantime, the La Plata county fair is coming up. It’s pretty cool. Come check out the farm and ranch way of life. You might learn something.
