Lake Farmington has opened for outdoor recreation including swimming, camping, fishing, limited boating and mountain biking. As of Monday, Lake Farmington access fees were reduced to $1 per person. Annual passes are on sale now at the lake entry station off of New Mexico Highway 516 and may be purchased for $50.
Swimming is permissible at the swimmer’s risk anywhere in the lake. The Beach area is also open, but no lifeguards will be on duty.
Camping is $5 per night, in addition to the daily lake access fee.
Starting Monday, patrons may call park reservations at (505) 599-1400 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Nonmotorized watercraft are allowed, but must undergo a free invasive species inspection before entering the water.
Fire restrictions are in place. Wood fires are prohibited. Charcoal grills and gas camp stoves are allowed.
Because of increased use, the city of Farmington is asking people to help take care of the area by properly disposing of trash and cleaning after themselves.
In accordance with the governor’s public health order, no more than five people may be gathered at one time, masks should be worn in public and people should maintain a 6-foot distance from each other.
