Lake Nighthorse will open for the 2019 season March 31.
The lake will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only, from March 31 to April 28, for non-motorized watercraft.
The lake will be open daily beginning May 1. Beginning May 15, Lake Nighthorse will be open to motorized watercraft. Watercraft that are classified as non-exempt by Colorado Parks and Wildlife or are trailered will be inspected for aquatic nuisance species.
The city of Durango will host the second annual “First to Fish” kids-only fishing event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 30. The event is free and for kids 15 years old and younger.
Lake Nighthorse is a fee area. Season and five-punch passes are now available for purchase at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave., and at the Lake Nighthorse entrance station during hours of operation, beginning March 31.
