Landis is the best choice for LPEA

Many of you may know Rachel Landis, coordinator of the Fort Lewis Environmental Center.

She has been a committed community leader and educator in Durango for six years. Her newest aim is to be elected to the La Plata Electric Association board from District 3 (City of Durango).

Her experience in utilizing an integrated approach in achieving sustainability goals would be a great contribution to the existing LPEA board. At FLC, she introduced an energy initiative that couples a reduction in energy use with the creation of on-site renewables and purchase of offsets.

She has served on several local planning and advisory boards, and is passionate about environmental stewardship. She can run circles around most anyone with her can-do energy, organizational insight, and leadership experience.

If elected to the LPEA board, Rachel Landis will work to keep our electric rates low, support a transition to energy sources that promote clean air and water, generate clean energy economic benefits by keeping energy dollars local, and seek out opportunities to collaborate with local, regional, and state entities to aid in our clean energy transition.

Rachel’s skill set would be a welcome change to the current conservative board that has made little progress toward a stable future with renewable energy.

Look for your ballot and vote for Rachel Landis to act as a true representative of our community values.
