Drivers should expect delays near Bondad on their evening commute.
The Colorado Department of Transportation announced late Monday afternoon that the discovery of a “large pothole” in a southbound lane on a U.S. Highway 550 bridge near Bondad required immediate repairs. Crews are preparing asphalt with plans of installing a metal plate as a temporary measure, the department said Monday in a news release.
Motorists should expect single-lane, alternating traffic across the bridge Monday evening until the work is done. They are asked to drive with extra caution, and the speed limit is lowered to 40 mph until the work is complete.
A permanent fix is still being designed. CDOT bridge engineers are planning a site visit.
