In a tough battle against Alamosa on Saturday night, the Bayfield Wolverine boys pulled off an upset win against the Alamosa Mean Moose.
In the first quarter, Bayfield finished ahead 16-10, and Bayfield was ahead at halftime 27-24,
Showing the tightness of the game, the third quarter score was 39-38. Treys from McKay Wells and Phelps then came through toward the end of the game, with Keyon Prior scoring the winning basket. He finished with 10 points at the end of the game.
Phelps finished with 13 points and a third-quarter dunk to a roar of approval from the home crowd.
Hayden Farmer scored 12 points, while Wells had 11.
