The election season is in full swing and The League of Women Voters will be holding several forums presenting candidates for local offices and information about local issues to help you prepare for completing your ballots.
The schedule for Candidate Forums (with La Plata County Commission candidates, District 2: Gwen Lachelt, Lyle McKnight; District 3: Kayla Patterson, Julie Westendorff; and state Legislative District 59 candidates, J. Paul Brown and Barbara McLachlan) is:
6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, Ignacio Community Library, 470 Goddard Ave.6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, Durango City Council Chambers, 949 E. Second Ave.6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, Bayfield City Board Room, 1199 Bayfield Pkwy.There will be a forum presenting all local ballot issues from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at Durango City Council Chambers, 949 East Second Ave.Those attending the forums will be able to ask written questions of the candidates and issue speakers. All forums held in Durango City Council Chambers may be viewed live on Durango Government Television, DGOV, on Charter Cable channels 191 and 981HD in Durango; and, via antenna, on channel 10.1 in Durango and La Plata County.
They may be streamed at durangogov.org/DGOV, and there will be a DVD available for viewing at the Durango Public Library.
Election Day is Nov. 8.
This is a mail ballot election, with ballots mailed to all registered voters in the county the week of Oct. 17. Ballots may be returned to the county clerk’s office by mail, or delivered to several ballot drop-off locations or Voter Service and Polling Centers.
