Water was shut off to government buildings and the museum near the intersection of 12th Street and Camino del Rio Thursday while crews repaired a leaking water main.
Crews started repairs mid-morning after water started coming out of the ground near River City Hall, said City Operations Director Levi Lloyd.
Crews found a device previously used to repair the line had failed and the crack in the pipe was longer than they could fix, he said. “The repair was much more complicated than we had anticipated,” Lloyd said.
Crews needed to replace the damaged section of pipe, he said.
The water outage lasted from about mid-morning to mid-afternoon.
River City Hall, Fire Station No. 2 and the Powerhouse Science Center all had water turned off, he said.
Businesses in the area from Ninth to 14th Street may have experienced reduced pressure, he said.
