Colorado Parks and Wildlife will offer a free turkey-hunting seminar from 3 to 6:30 p.m. April 21 at the Archuleta County Extension Center in Pagosa Springs, 398 Lewis St.
Mentored turkey hunts will be held April 22-23 on private land in the Pagosa Springs area for applicants who qualify.
The seminar is designed to recruit and instruct novice turkey hunters. Topics will include turkey biology, hunting strategies, necessary equipment, calling and safety. No experience or equipment is necessary.
To join the mentored hunt, those interested must complete an application at the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Durango Service Center, 151 E. 16th St., or at the U.S. Forest Service office in Pagosa Springs, 180 Pagosa St. Selected hunters must possess a valid hunter safety card and a spring turkey-hunting license by April 21.
