‘Lesser of two evils’ is still choosing evil

Growing up in Durango in the 1950s, I often heard my dad say, “Just once I would like to vote for someone instead of against someone else.” He voted in every election since before World War II. I don’t know if he ever got his wish.

This year’s presidential contest presents us with a choice between two horribly flawed candidates – neither of whom is qualified to be president. On one hand we have a misogynistic, egocentric, reality show star.

On the other a pathological liar who should be serving time in a federal penitentiary for her role in Benghazi, exposing classified email and influence peddling.

As a result, when it comes time to vote, I will write in Mike Pence and encourage everyone else to do likewise. I know some will say, “You threw away your vote.” Possibly. But if someone is choosing between the lesser of two evils, they are still choosing evil. I refuse to choose evil.
