With all the letters about local politics, let’s think about giving bears a break. They came to East Fifth Avenue one recent Tuesday evening, and to West Third Avenue on a Thursday evening, the nights before trash pickup. Both times, litter and garbage were all over our neighbors’ lawns. Why can’t the city have mandatory outside bear-proof trash cans for all?
