“Welcome to beautiful Durango” is the unwritten message on the triangle at the 160/550 intersection. Visitors are greeted by a mess of weeds and a rusty piece of the long removed “sculpture” of drying fish or socks.
Across from this is another triangle of weeds and trash.
After placing the very nice “Welcome to Durango” sign on the east side and a nice park-like area, this is a sad, sad contrast. What must visitors think when they first see the trashy, weed-covered west entrance?
Shame on you, Durango, and your city council and roads and bridges Department. Can’t even cut a weed?
Monies spent on all the advertising to attract tourists seems to melt away when they first approach Durango at this trashy intersection.
The cemetery has a beautiful bull elk to greet people. Why not place one at this triangle and plant some shrubs in both triangles that say more about our beautiful Durango?
