Letter: Bosmans’ technical, financial expertise needed on council

I have known Olivier Bosmans for many years. He is a hard-working man with integrity.

I have known his children since they were born and remember him cycling his kids to school, one on the front and one on the back of his bike. He is a great father with good values, an honest, well spoken and all-around good person. You may have seen them, active in our community or at sports and social events.

Olivier is an engineer and financially very responsible. He has his own small business and knows firsthand what being a business owner involves. He is a team player and has the greater good in mind, looking at things analytically, unbiased and with common sense.

And that is what is needed at the City Council. I am concerned about the many technical developments coming up (Midtown development, Durango Mesa, our water system, etc). Will there be anyone on the City Council with any technical expertise? We need someone on the council who understands what is presented, both from a financial and technical perspective.

Olivier serves on the La Plata County Planning Commission and that experience and connection is valuable, as it involves both the city and county. We need someone who has leadership and long term vision, and most importantly, someone who can move things forward and get things done.

I strongly recommend everyone to consider Olivier and what he can bring to the City Council.
