Dennis Pierce’s piece (April 4, “Democrats have promised, failed on border security”) is a work of Republican propaganda that seeks to hold Democrats responsible for our nation’s immigration chaos.
He neglects to mention his own party’s responsibility for the impasse and cynically attributes Democrats’ motives to increasing their base. His snarky quote of Rodney King says it all. Republicans are not interested in “all of us getting along;” they would look away from the majority of immigrants plight at the border, at the rightful claim that DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or “Dreamers”) folk have to citizenship and debase our democracy for the sake of national security (i.e., Trump nationalist supremacy).
I’m not buying one bit of his argument; it’s all of it a justification for Republican depravity.
