Letter: Don’t send kids to school in the dark

For God’s sake, please don’t send our kids to school in the dark.

Senators are considering a horribly titled bill, “The Sunshine Protection Act,” that would make Daylight Savings Time permanent. This would mean more dark hours in the morning.

It’s a no-brainer that children going to school in complete darkness is dangerous. Think of us parents who put our lives at risk trying to wake up sleep-deprived teenagers before sunup. Why would we want more of that?

If anything we should get more sunny school mornings by delaying daylight savings until summer, starting on Memorial Day.

Before it’s too late, please call our Senators Michael Bennett and John Hickenlooper and ask them to eclipse the “Sunshine Protection Act.”
