Letter: Enough already: the election wasn’t rigged

Enough of the disinformation. Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election despite President Trump’s rant that began over a year ago that the election would be rigged.

How do we know the election wasn’t fraudulent? None of the allegations of election misconduct have been upheld by state or federal courts; the Republican head of cybersecurity testified the election was “the most secure in American history;” no state attorney general has filed suit against any individual for election improprieties.

Former Attorney General William Barr, a Republican, told his agents to investigate claims of illegal voting and vote tabulation. Barr reported there was no fraud that would change the election outcome.

And the U.S. Supreme Court has rejected claims of voting irregularities.

Recall President Trump also declared voting fraud with the 2016 election, that millions voted illegally. Again, no legal authorities brought criminal charges against anyone. Trump appointed a federal commission to look into the allegations, but there was nothing forthcoming to support the claims.

At some point it’s incumbent upon those who continue to push such allegations to present credible evidence to bolster their charges, not some QAnon rumor. Now that Trump has some free time on his hands, he can investigate the election fraud he claimed denied him a second term in office.

I do sympathize with him in part, for if the Colorado lotteries hadn’t been rigged, I would be a multimillionaire right now.
