I am a fifth grade student at Riverview Elementary School. For my community improvement project I decided to do homelessness. For me and 85% of the others others who took my survey, helping homelessness is important.
Lots of people had ideas to help, but I ended up deciding to raise and then donate money. In my survey, 95% of people said that they would volunteer and help, which is proof that helping homelessness is important to our community.
The reason I would work and help homelessness is because I personally am really lucky and often take food, water and a home for granted even though lots of people can barely afford enough food for themselves and/or their family.
In my survey, a lot of people had ideas to fix homelessness; although they were all great ideas, almost all of them were out of my reach, for example, having a better medical system. That would be a good idea, but the only thing I could do is send an email or call the health care system.
Because there weren’t too many ideas in my reach, I decided to come up with my own idea, I am going to raise money to donate to food drives and homeless shelters such as Manna soup kitchen or Durango’s homeless shelter.
Now that you know why we need to take action and help the homeless population decrease, I hope you will take action and help with homelessness or any other problem you are passionate about. Thank you for reading.
