While there are different thoughts and feelings out there regarding vaccination, the scientific conclusions state that we must reach a certain threshold in order to reach “herd immunity” and finally reach a certain semblance of “back to normal.”
According to the Cleveland Clinic, approximately 70% of the population needs to be vaccinated before we reach herd immunity.
We aren’t going to be able to reach this level of vaccinations without incentivizing the population. While some employers have begun to provide monetary incentives and time off for getting vaccinated, this is only a small first step.
Want to revitalize a decimated airline industry? Create a separate section of each aircraft exclusively for fully vaccinated patrons, and offer free food and drinks in this section since airlines will be profiting from the “vaccinated” section with closer spacing.
Itching to get back to a ballgame, movie or theater production? Separate sections – no masks required – should be available for those with their vaccinations. For movies, an entire screening could take place for fully vaccinated moviegoers – offer free popcorn as a perk or offer the first screening of opening day for fully vaccinated moviegoers.
Many people out there may be on the fence as to whether they plan to get vaccinated – some of these incentives could give them the motivation they need! Through incentivizing the population, we will be able to more quickly return to many of the activities we enjoyed so much before this all hit.
