The figure skating program at Chapman Hill is growing. The athletes there are passing United States Figure Skating (USFS) tests and competing in USFS events. However, it will all come to a halt in April when our season rink closes.
It is past time for Parks and Recreation to address updates to this facility or to build a new all year ice facility. Hockey is also growing. Durango, like Aspen, Steamboat, Vail and Breckinridge, needs full-time ice. Those towns support their rinks financially just fine. It is time.
Build it and they will come!
